Who's ability?

"If any man {mother} minister, let her do it with the ability God gives, that God in all things be glorified in Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 4:11

Do you ever feel like your abilities/willingness do not match up to the calling that the Lord has laid before you?

I confess, this past week has been hard.  Not just physically, due to the malaria, but spiritually. I have often woke up with a the dreadful feeling that I am unable, or rather unwilling, to perform the tasks that the Lord has laid before me.

"Lord. You have asked me to care for eleven children.  I live in the middle of nowhere. The heat is at times nearly unbearable. I eat the same foods day after day, and the closest butcher shop or bakery is over seven hours away. My house is covered in dust an hour after I mop...."

Ladies, I am just trying to be honest.  I am no "super saint."  I have moments where I struggle with this calling the Lord has placed on my life.  I have caught myself dreaming of another life. You know the one; a cute little house with air conditioning, a nice mini van, two kids that are part of a homeschool co-op and a woman's bible study with iced coffee and homemade cookies.

But in the midst of this I hear the soft whisper of my Lord, "He who called you is faithful."  It is not about my ability.  And I must "never forget that my capacity and capability in spiritual matters is measured by, and based on, the promises of God."  O. Chambers.

Oh those sweet, sweet promises of God, all "yes and amen in Christ Jesus."

His ability.  His glory.

We all go through times where we just want to throw in the towel on where the Lord has us. In those times it seems like everyone else has a life that's so much easier than our own (at least I do!) and we fail to see the struggles that are inherent in "the other side of the fence" or the specific struggles of each individual living the "better/easier" life.

Praying for you as you go through one of those seasons. Read Galatians 6:9 - It's good stuff. :)

Grace to you.

I've felt that way this week about teaching PRE-ALGEBRA! Why Lord?! I canNOT do it. Why me?! :o) Among other things...

You left out the other part of the verse..."He who calls you is faithful; HE WILL SURELY DO IT." ~ 1 Thes 5:24

"Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." ~ 1 Thes 5 : 23

And isn't sanctification FUN!?!
