"Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did."
1 John 1:6 NLT
&
"Jesus lived to bring glory to the Father." John 14:13
Wow, that is how I desire to live!
But to do so, I was reminded while reading an amazing book by Andrew Murray called 'With Christ in the School of Prayer', first published in 1953,
"What the son of man did, to give Himself wholly, His whole life, to glorify the Father, is nothing but the simple duty of every redeemed one."
Are you redeemed? Then your life is to be used wholly for the glory of God.
Andrew Murray goes onto say,
"What a humbling thought that so often there is earnest prayer for a child, in which the thought of our joy or our pleasure was far stronger than any yearnings for God's glory."
How many times have I prayed for my children with my heart set not upon God's glory, but rather on my own "pleasurable" desire for my "load to be lightened." Let me give an example. I have prayed for the sin of deception in one of my children, however, my focus was not on God's glory but on my own joy/pleasure of having a child that was honest. O Lord forgive me.
May all that we do, as the redeemed, give ALL glory to God. Even in that which we pray for.
"Thou knowest, we ask it only for Thy glory." Andrew Murray

That is a different perspective- wow! Brings a whole new meaning.
Yes, may our hearts desire to live for Him and that all glory would go to God as is should be......
