The last post

I would like to clarify my last post. I completely agree with the comments made, however, I believe that I was a bit misunderstood. In no way was I saying that everyone needs to adopt a handful of children or be a missionary in Africa. On the contrary, we need to understand that yes, we have all been called to different ministries, but in that we need to be functioning in the Spirit.

What I was trying to make very clear is that I believe many Christians are functioning in the flesh. They live by sight and not by faith. I think of the life of George Mueller--who was called to do a work that was beyond himself. It did not seem plausable in the earthly sense but because God was behind it and God was the"supplier" then a mighty work was accomplished through this one man. This is the life I desire and long for.

Should we not encourage and exhort one another to follow the Lord full heartedly--no matter the calling? May it not be so that I am one to question one man's calling from another's.

Let the Word of God speak for itself, "Now we have recieved not the spirit of the world , but the Spirit who is from God, what we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God...But the natural man does not recieve the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned...But we have the mind of Christ."
1 Corinithians 2:12-16

I knew your heart was right, but I think this clarification is good. The last post implied that those who aren't drawn to a large family or adoption are just fleshly people. This clarification post shows that your main point was not really about adoption, but about trusting God to provide as you obey him, even when the obedience seems ludicrous from a practical standpoint.

Thanks for leaving this comment. You are totally getting what I was trying to convey. I have seen such a change in my walk with the Lord as I become more and more open to His perfect plan for my life--no matter the cost! I still battle with doubt but must keep going back to the WORD! Love to you Bethany :)

Summer, I love what you wrote - and I'm so just as crazy as your are! haha! :) My husband has to keep me quiet so many times in public when people are talking about "too many kids" or how they could "never do that" (which is never adopt). The last one makes me sick because I always think - "Well, its a good think God didn't say that or we'd be pretty hopeless." Can you imagine if God hadn't "felt called" to adopt us? :) I think about it continually - and I also think about how in the spirit of being "more like God" more Christians SHOULD be adopting whether financially or whatever. We are called to take care of the orphans - what better way! Okay, I'm totally on a rant here, but only because I just loved what you wrote!!! :) I so just want to adopt again right this moment - the process of time it takes is so unbearable know they are children in need NOW!

Have a blessed day!
-Ashley

I love your passion for God and His Word! I need the reminder today to walk by His Spirit, not what I see or feel... just obey Him like a dearly loved child!

I used to feel the same frustration when people would say to us (about being missionaries) "we could NEVER do that!", and I would say "you could if God asked you to". But, I stopped being so critical of those comments the day I caught myself telling a youth pastor "I could NEVER do that!". Ha ha. We are so weak and fickle people - but like JLW said, Thank God he felt called to adopt us!!. Thanks 'transformed' for your reminder to cut each other some 'spiritual slack' when it comes to different 'callings'.

The Moffits--I tried to leave a comment on your blog but failed to find the option? Either way, I wanted you to know that I have been lifting you and your family up as you walk the path of adoption--which can be very "steep" at times. Keep your eyes of Jesus.
