Its not just about...

I was talking with the Lord a few days ago about our children, adoption, sin/bondage, etc.

He spoke the following VERY clearly to my heart,

"Adoption is not just about the redemption of these children, it is also about your sanctification."

Meditating on these words.

VERY, VERY TRUE!!

My husband and I have discussed this quite a bit. Our friends have come to the same conclusions....

Sometimes this is a very difficult process and there is a lot of cleansing and sanctifying to do that wasn't so apparent BEFORE the kids came to live with us.

well if that ain't the truth...

Summer, I have a lot of sanctification in my present and future. If I didn't have to be so sacrifical and lay down my life, it might just be a breeze.

Dying is death. And really, who likes to die? Only by the Holy Spirit! Only by the blood of Jesus and HIS death are we able to lay down our life. And even in this--death to self is still hard.

Lord have mercy.

Another thing...

I think it is supposed to be joy for us to lay down our life, and for me, it is still bloody.

Yep I've heard that same thing - I kinda laugh cause apparently 2 kids is enough to sanctify some folks but it has taken 8 to breakthrough in our house (LOL - just kidding, well sort of!)

Bonnie, you are on to something. Unfortunately, it took a multitude to get my attention to how me that my sanctification was in process. Having kids is like looking in a mirror because they often reflect what they see in me. It's not pretty sometimes but the refining fire is worth it to draw closer to Christ. Thanks for the recent posts. They are making me think.

OH man, I so agree, whether they are adopted or biological...isn't it almost always about our sanctification?!

I hope it is alright that I linked to two of your posts. They hit me between the eyes. I love that God works that way, using His ways instead of mine.
