Mama's, don't loose hope.

I really wanted to leave my last post up for another day or two, however, there is something heavy on my heart that just continues to grow heavier the more I read adoption blogs.

Mama's are loosing hope.

Behaviors aren't improving. A lack of "attachment" continues to be an issue. Love wanes.

And hope is fading away.

"Why am I so discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God." Psalm 42:5

Hope is: "a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen."

Nearly all mama's that I have met have "hope" for their children.
Hope for happiness, love, success, etc.

However, the problem comes when we forget who our hope should be in.

It can't be in our children. It can't be in a "how to" book/method. It can be in a counselor.

"But I will keep on hoping for Your help; I will praise You more and more."Psalm 71:12

When I am in caught up in hopelessness, I find that praising God and meditating on his Word brings me back to a place of hope.

Psalm 119:

"I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your Word."

"Your word is my source of hope."

The Word does not only bring hope, it brings healing,

"He sent our His word and healed me." Psalm 107:20

Mama's. Do not loose hope. For the sake of your children and for the sake of God's glory.

"Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble and keep on praying." Romans 12:12

Let us be reminded of Paul's words in Acts 28:20,

"because of the hope of Israel -the Messiah- I am bound in these chains."

Paul knew that although he was suffering in chains, it was for something far greater, eternal. Let us not loose sight of what is eternal. The reality is, adoption is hard. It is costly. And most importantly, it requires that our hope be steadfast in the Lord.

"We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love." Romans 5:5

Mama's God loves you. Put your hope in HIM!

Thank you for being open and hones. Even though we have not adopted, I felt like the last two posts were so encouraging to all types of mom's-including myself. Love you & Praying for you!

This is SO true.

We often say around here that if we REALLY believe that
#1 God is Sovereign
and
#2 God is Good,
then we can truly walk in faith and trust - following Him even when it all "seems" hopeless because we KNOW that we HAVE Hope in Jesus Christ. We BELIEVE that God will continue the work he began in us, that He will give us the strength we need day by day. In obedience, we continue on and do not lose hope b/c it seems that our kids aren't "attaching" or b/c the behaviors don't change. We don't lose heart b/c we aren't trusting in ourselves and our own abilities - we are trusting in our Good and Sovereign God!
