Today

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement.  This morning my devotional was just what my soul needed.  A reminder of what I once told the Lord concerning my children,

"I will very gladly be spent for your souls."
2 Corinthians 12:15

"I don't throw my life away, but I willingly and deliberately lay it down for Him and His interests in other people."  Oswald Chambers

I believe, dare I say, that part of my fatigue is due to an ever increasing battle with PMS--which seems to be getting worse over the years.  I once heard that when a woman turns thirty her body goes through a series of changes. True or not, my poor body has been through a lot over the past 3 years (I am 32).  With that aside, I am also in need of a little rest.  As much as I love my children, I am learning that I need time away every few months.  I am not talking about a lavish beach get-a-way, but just a day or two to listen, pray and meditate on the Lord.

*Any advice concerning natural remedies for PMS would be greatly appreciated!*

A number of years ago the wife of a previous pastor wrote a book called 'Living with PMT'. A book for Christians, dealing with this issue. I think she includes some natural remedies in that. It's now many years since I've even seen a copy, let alone read it. It is available, however, from Amazon. Author is Shirley Jebb. Very lovely and wise Christian lady. I believe posting things to Uganda is reasonably reliable, so if you email me your address I'll buy a copy and get it sent to you. My email is: cowellcatherine@yahoo.com

I recently read a book called "Sugar Blues", by William Dufty. (I need to mention that it has some mature themes in it, not to be read by children). Anyway, the book said that refined sugar consumption makes PMS worse. He recommends using honey or some natural sweetened instead.

As a Christian who struggles with this (35 & yes it's been really whacky the last 3 yrs) I'm glad to know I'm not alone... and great thanks to Cathy & Bethany for these 2 resources I knew nothing about. If the sugar thing is true for me, man have I been feeding the monster, ha :)

I just received some great info from a hormone seminar at a neighboring church this week! Here's the big eye opener for me: PMS IS NOT NORMAL! I've never known that! The nurse said we've just been tricked into thinking it was normal and it was something we had to put up with. If you're experiencing PMS and it's getting worse, you can almost guarantee your hormones are out of whack. (She recommended a simple swab test to have the levels checked, but we're not in your area, so the lab info wouldn't help you.) But, she said 99% of the time, women are deficient in progesterone when they begin to experience increasing difficulty with PMS. She recommended an over the counter progesterone cream. Start out with 1/4 tsp twice a day and see if that helps.

I remember seeing the Cor. verse on you blog when I first began to become familiar with you blog. I remember how I was really struggling with my 4 littlest ones and how encouraging the verse was to me because it really is my hearts cry. Again, thank you!!!

I love that verse! You are such an inspiration as a strong Christian sister!

BTW, I LOVE that picture at the top of your blog of your children!

I actually had to have a hysterectomy a couple of years ago... I got to keep my ovaries. It has been such a blessing, I had turned into a tired, grouchy perpetual mess that never felt good. Praying you find some relief as I agree, it does get worse as you get older!

I believe you suffer with hypothyroidism. I do as well except mine turned into Hashimoto's disease about 5 years ago which is an autoimmune disease of the thyroid. It is treated just like regular hypothyroidism. Several years ago, I was dealing with severe fatigue and tingling in my hands and feet. I was then diagnosed with pernicious anemia or vitamin B-12 deficiency. I just take sublingual B-12 under my tongue and usually have very little overwhelming fatigue anymore. I thought it was interesting that both of these are auto-immune disorders and my endocrinologist told me once you have one auto-immune disorder, you are more predisposed to developing another. I don't know if this info. will help. Will be praying for you.

Time away is imperative! My family all understands when mommy has to "runaway" ... at least once or twice per year ... time for "just mommy".

I commend you for seeking natural remedies. I have also heard/read what Bethany & Marsha mentioned. Try typing in Google “natural progesterone wild yam”. Sublingual Vit. B-12 as Tina mentions does wonders for fatigue & many other issues! Sublingual is the fasted way for it to get into your body via your bloodstream.

I know from personal experience that it is hard to eat nutritiously in a 3rd world country, but eating a diet high in raw foods should help you!

Most Drs say auto-immune disorder are “incurable” But I can personally testify that through healthy living choices, supplements and God’s healing hand I am HEALED!

I pray for God’s healing in your life! The Lord has provided natural relief for you! I just hope you can get the needed products & supplements shipped to you there or that they are available.

You have a beautiful family! Great pictures =)
