Do I have my fingers in my ears?

"They stubbornly put their fingers in their ears to keep from hearing. They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or messages that the Lord of Heaven's Armies had sent them by His Spirit." Zech. 7

And what was the instruction/message?

"Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.

Do not oppress widows orphans foriegners
and the poor. And do not scheme against each other." Zechariah 7

How often do I put my fingers in my ears? Maybe not literally, but in other ways. For instance, I get so busy that I have not time to hear the Lord speak. Or, I am so quick to seek books for answers that I fail to take time to read the Good Book. Zechariah says that because they "put their fingers in their ears (failed to listen) their hearts became hard." Oh, how the enemy and our own prideful/selfish ways seek to draw us away from the voice of the Almighty.

May our hearts always be soft enough to listen. And respond as the hands and feet of our Lord.
