Updated: Sickle cell reared its ugly head today!

The Lord has blessed us with two children who suffer from a very deadly illness known as sickle cell disease.  Today we had a scare which is so common with this disease...but one in which we have not experienced before.  Enoch, our three year old, fell completely limp and incoherent.  After praying, I rushed him to the local clinic to have his hemoglobin/red blood cell count tested.  The lab tech. kept mentioning how this is a very normal for sicklers...and I kept telling him "its not normal for OUR sicklers."  You see, 80% of Ugandan children with this disease die before the age of 5 years.  But, thus far, Enoch and Elyssa {age 7 years} have had very mild attacks, and definitely nothing that required a blood transfusion or hospital stay.

Well, back to today.  The blood test results showed Enoch had very low hemoglobin count as well as a low red blood cell count.  However, due to the risks involved with a transfusion, not to mention a transfusion done at a local hospital, we have chosen to nurse Enoch back to health at home.  He is drinking a lot of water and resting, surrounded by those who love him.  Please pray for Enoch, that his hemoglobin will miraculously be strengthened and that his red blood cells will be replenished.

**Urgent update: Enoch had to be rushed to the hospital due to labored breathing. Praise God the hospital had oxygen! Now we are waiting for the next step...**

***Another update:  Enoch ended up having a transfusion.  I told him that it was Super Hero blood to which he was very excited.  Daddy has the overnight shift.  Pray for sleep, there are a lot of little pests {cockroaches} to contend with...***

Enoch receiving his super hero blood!

Had the thought to send Matthew 7:7-8.
Bringing Enoch before Jesus throne and asking Him to breath healing into Enochs body.
May God continue to bless your family and may you be filled with much strength and power from the Holy Spirit as you continue to minister in Uganda.
