We have arrived.

Thanks so much for your prayers.  We arrived safely in Kitgum, Northern Uganda yesterday at lunch time.  The children did amazing on the journey. They were excited by all the new sights-just think of National Geographic magazine and that is where we are, in the heart of Africa! Something funny along the way...We hit a dove and Eryn said, "oh no mommy, we just hit the Holy Spirit."  We are getting used to the heat and have fans running all day (we are very, very close to the Sudanese border and thus on the edge of the desert).  The house is coming together.  And we are all very humbled to be serving the Lord in this place.  I look forward to sharing more.  Until then, and on a totally different note, I just read the book "Crazy Love" and I would HIGHLY recommend you read this one!

P.S. As for the size one diaper comment :-)  We now live just down the road from the orphanage that our son Ethan once lived in, they are desperate for people who are willing to love on these children (especially the babies who often die from neglect and undernourishment/disease).

Every time we hit a bird we remind that children that "not one sparrow falls..."

I am so excited about your opportunity to work with little babies! So, instead of saying congratulations once, we can say it (perhaps) many times!

Praise God! I'm so glad to hear the journey went well. Love the dove remark! I have heard Francis Chan speak a couple of times and his passion is so contagious. I bought that book a while back and got sidetracked. Think I'll pick it back up again. I can't wait to hear more about the orphanage....

Crazy Love had a huge impact on our family. Great book! My husband did a 10 week sermon series on it ... looking at a chapter per week. All of the small groups were reading the book, as well, and discussing each week's chapter.

We have been to the "National Geographic" parts of Ghana. I can totally picture where you're living. :)

Love the comment about hitting the Holy Spirit. Too funny!

Wish I could come help out at the orphanage. Don't quite know what to do with all my young rascals while I'm gone.

Blessings,

Laurel :)

Hi,
I just came across your blog through Linny's blog. I think it is absolutely wonderful what you are doing!!! WOW!!!
My husband and I have felt to take a 2-week-trip to Uganda later this year to explore possibilities to minister to orphans (we've been missionaries with YWAM for over 25 years).
We have a few contacts in Southern Uganda. Hearing about the children's home that is looking for people to love on the babies really touches my heart.
I am wondering if there is any way that we could visit for a few days - meet you - and the children's home? you can email me at bettsfamily@watchdog.net.nz

Thanks and many many blessings to you from beautiful New Zealand,

Isabel
