Malaria has hit!

We knew when we moved to the North that malaria was going to be more of a threat--up to this point none of us have contracted the disease, except Zane when he traveled to Central African Republic. We are all on anti-malarial medication, however, what we chose to place the children on is not "sure proof" but has very few adverse side effects and it protects against malaria of the brain(cerebral).

Today, we noticed that Ezra was quite lethargic. By the end of church he had a noticeable fever.  And once we reached home his fever had hit 103.5 and he was shaking. Thankfully, the Lord provided for us to buy an entire container full of drugs to treat diseases such as malaria. I started Ezra on treatment and he is now trying to rest in front of a fan. Please pray for a quick healing and no lasting side effects from the medication/disease.

He is so handsome!

Had a little giggle when you said you noticed he was lethargic!! Just like I'd REALLY notice if Rayah was! :-) (wish it was more often but not with malaria too!!) Love the new haircut!!!!! Praying for a speedy recovery and that none of the others get it too.

Miss you guys down here in the "cooler" weather. My friends are here from England and absolutely melting!!! Hi to the kids from us.

ps....have you actually been there long enough for him to have caught it there???? Time flies....

praying for you all...

I was curious if malaria would be more prevalent in the North. I assumed it would not be, thinking it'd be drier. Guess I was wrong. :(

So thankful for your meds and the Lord's provision! He is faithful.

We will be praying and speaking scripture over him.

This very moment in Jesus name we command the fever to go and for all infirmity to leave his body. Thank you Jesus for the authority over this illness.
AMEN !!!!

Blessing

Robin,

Yes, we have been here 11 days and he came down with malaria on day 10--just as the medical books say.

Ezra is doing amazingly well this morning, after a rough night and numerous trips to the toilet. Not to mention no power and thus no fans (I told Zane this morning, "I think I sweated off 5 pounds last night alone).

Love and miss you.

Haven't had time to check out blogs for a while, so by now malaria has moved through your family. So sorry to hear you have been sick. I have thought about putting the children at Redeemer House on malaria prophylaxis. What medication do you use? How expensive is it? I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to put them on long-term prevention, but I don't want them to be sick (although there are a lot fewer infected mosquitos here in Kampala than up north). I spent the weekend in Arua a couple of weeks ago, and I sympathize with you! Dealing with the heat every day must be grueling. Bless you for being willing to follow Him in spite of everything!
