A new house rule

We are firm believers in biblical discipline (Proverbs 13:24). However, we also love to come up with creative ways of training. This week we began to literally apply the verse that says, "those unwilling to work (clean up their toys) will not get to eat." Just a few moments ago, one of our children, known to be very lazy, is going to go to bed hungry.
God's word is the BEST training tool available, hands down!

Same rule here. If morning chores aren't done by breakfast, then you don't eat.

It is so hard to discipline, and yet, it is commanded. We have to think LONG TERM. What is best for their character? For their godliness? Learning these lessons, of course! We have had to employ similar methods. It's hard, but SO worth it

We have that rule too. Our kids take turns picking up....and if they are not done in time for dinner.....they don't eat dinner....it is pretty effective tool.

Same rule here too. Don't get done - you don't eat.

I should apply that to myself - kill two birds with one stone.

So thankful that I'm not alone on this one.. Discipline is important. Parents are sometimes too easy on their children, and then wonder why they misbehave? Or are messy, or lazy...
Alot of people give me a hardtime because I don't let my son start playing with something, until he puts his previous 'something' away... They say "why don't you just let him put everything away at the end?"
And then there's even more backlash when I punish him for taking something out before putting something else away. But I think it's really good structure for him. And he will do the same at someone elses house as well.

He works hard, so he is very well fed! :) I love that the Lord gave us this guidance.....

Fabulous idea!!! I bet they get the message really quickly.

Hope you're feeling a little better, friend.
