Brothers and tears

Ethan is already an amazing big brother--he has compassion deep down in his little heart! And Ezra is fun loving and very gentle (although he is our "wild" child he has a real gentleness to him).

I wanted to share what happened at high court with Elyssa. Her birth father has been "involved" in a loose sense of the word from the beginning. He has signed of all of his rights as a father. Elyssa's mother could not handle the loss of Elyssa's brother--he died at 6 months due to sickle cell (although they did not know what he died from until we had Elyssa diagnosed--this means both parents are sickle cell carriers). She is actually the one that abandoned Elyssa at the home of an uncle--mind you know one was home at the time. Imagine a sweet, very sick, little girl left alone on a porch. So, back to the court hearing. The birth father was sitting right next to Zane....the judge asked him some very pointed questions, one being, "why are you having kids if you can not take care of them?" He explained that he was unemployed and his wife left him. I began to cry and weep in my heart when he said this, "I did not want my daughter to die." This man loves his daughter. We told him that we will tell Elyssa that her birth daddy loved her so much that he gave her to us.

Do you know or understand the hope that the Lord is allowing us to give to these precious little children? May it lay heavy on our hearts. Just as the Lord, through His death and resurrection has given us hope, so we who make these children part of our families are giving hope inexpressible.

"REJOICING OF THE HOPE FIRM TO THE END!"
Hebrews 3:6

Oh, I am crying as I read this to myself and my husband. We so feel the pain of the situation you are invovled in and trying to better...How can we help you other than prayer? In love-your sister-in-Christ. Shi~

Oh wow--that would have ripped my heart right out of my chest. Unbelievable love. Phew, friend, I can only imagine how emotional it must have been for you. Yes and amen...such an honor to raise these little blessings from the hand of the Father.

LOVE the pics of the brothers together :)
