confusion or peace?

"Who is wise and underastanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual and demonic. For where envy and self seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, without partiality and without hyposcrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." James 3:13-18
Once again, the living and active Word of God has been a light unto my path. I have really been struggling with some of the laws that govern adoption within the country--mostly because there is so much confusion. But the Lord spoke to me through James 3. When a country's foundation is laid upon greed and corruption confusion is expected. Or as said in James, "every evil thing is there". Satan definitely has a foothold in Uganda. Kids are being sold under the guise of "orphans," food meant for starving children is being sold in local shops and unheard of amounts of money are being exchanged to adopt a child. And the government is allowing it. Certain factions claim to be "for the children" but I dare to say they are only in it for their own gain--"self seeking."
With that said, when is it ok to negate the law of the land for the sake of a child? We are told in scripture that "pure and undefiled religion is to take care of orphans." Knowing that God's laws are perfect--and higher than the ways of man.
Let us desire to be wise--and sowers of peace.
"Deal bountifully with Your servant,
That I may live and keep Your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may see
Wondrous things from Your law.
19 I am a stranger in the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.
20 My soul breaks with longing
For Your judgments at all times.
21 You rebuke the proud—the cursed,
Who stray from Your commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt,
For I have kept Your testimonies.
23 Princes also sit and speak against me,
But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counselors.
"
Psalm 119

Adoptive pregnancy is an amazing journey in openness to life. There is so little control, so little understanding, so little knowlege... and almost no choices... save that of continuing forward. You, and your family are in my prayers, it is no small thing to reach out in faith to do what you can for those who can do nothing for themselves. Being confounded is almost a certainty, for the work which you undertake is of God, the almighty Creator of heaven and earth... and His adversary would like nothing better than for you to abandon the will of the Father. Keep strong, learn to jump throught the hoops surrounded by God's grace and know that it is not law that creates your family but the very God and Father that you confess. Your fight means something... to your children, to me, and to the whole world! Thank you for continuing down this path, a path filled with briars, and darkness but one that is sure to produce precious fruit!

I love what Jocelyn said... "There's so little control, so little understanding, so little knowledge... and almost no choices... save continuing forward..."

That is the life of faith we are to live whether in the arena of adoption or whatever we do... pressing on despite the briars and darkness and lack of control.

Your guys' abandon to the will and soveriegnty of God inspires me to trust Him with my own life more and more!
